How to Identify the Best Performing Ad-units
It wasn’t a surprise when we found out that the most searched question for ad-unit performance was to identify which was the highest performing one. However, we feel it’s important to first understand why is a particular ad-unit outperforming the other.
The Ad-size plays a vital key is deciding an ad-unit’s performance. It is possible that a lot of times you’re missing out on a lot of good bids because of your selected ad-size choice. Additionally, the placement of an ad-unit also plays a very important role in performance.

You can use sigview to understand which ad-units are doing the best across your market place.
In this tutorial, we’ll select the dimensions that contribute to a high performance, and analyze why an ad-unit isn’t doing well. The dimension we’re selecting here on SigView dashboard is Device_OS.
Step 1: First we will expand the Device_OS dimension. Now we’re adding the metrics which would indicate the high performance like revenue, average bid price, fill-rate & CTR.

Step 2: To understand which units are performing the best, we will further select on a particular Device_OS type, by filtering on it.

Step 3: In this step, We will then expand the Ad_size dimension to see which ad sizes are performing best for the chosen Device_OS Linux.

Step 4: To understand which ad_sizes are performing the best – we’ll select the fill_rate metric in descending order.

There are numerous ways in which you can determine the top performing ad-units, we’ve selected only one. For example you can also select ad_format and explore ad sizes within it.
